State Wage Case Decision 2009
On 21 August 2009 the Full Bench of the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) issued its decision on applications by the Queensland Council of Unions (QCU) and The Australian Workers’ Union of Employees, Queensland (AWU) for a Declaration of a General Ruling to apply to Queensland awards.
The decision by the QIRC means that all Queensland awards will be amended by way of a Declaration of General Ruling to make the following adjustments operative from 1 September 2009:
- $16.20 per week increase in award rates of pay
- an increase of 2.5% to existing allowances that relate to work or conditions which have not changed (including shift allowances expressed as monetary amounts and service increments)
- 16.20 per week increase in the Queensland Minimum Wage (bringing it to $568.20)
All agencies should take appropriate action to effect increases to work-related allowances as from 1 September 2009.
