Directives

Directives are issued under section 34 of the Public Service Act 1996. The Minister for Industrial Relations may issue directives on remuneration and conditions of employment applying to public service employees other than senior executives, senior officers or public services officers on contract whose remuneration is equal to or higher than that of a senior officer. Ministerial directives can contain employment conditions and allowances for the employees specified in the application clause of the particular directive.
The Public Service Commissioner may issue directives on matters relating to the Commissioner's functions under section 33 of the Act and overall employment conditions for senior executives, senior officers and public service officers on contract whose remuneration is equal or higher than the remuneration paid to a senior officer.
Ministerial and Commissioner directives are included in a single series. Employees' enquiries about directives are to be directed to the human resources or employee relations contact officer in their work area.
